In my piece, “1970's Impact On Skateboard Culture,” I used appropriation and Photoshop to create my own original 2D collage artwork. The collage focuses on images of boards, wheels, tricks, famous skaters, and more from the 1970's to show who and what made skateboarding what it is today. I did hours of research and found images from the "Skateboarder" magazines from this decade to ensure my artwork was credible in depicting what was popular including tricks with no boundaries, urethane wheels, and the skateboarding crew—the Z-Boys—in 1970s skateboard culture.
